Bis zur landesweiten Neuordnung der französischen Kantone im März 2015 gehörten zum Kanton Neuvy-Saint-Sépulchre die zwölf Gemeinden Cluis, Fougerolles, Gournay, Lys-Saint-Georges, Maillet (Indre), Malicornay, Mers-sur-Indre, Montipouret, Mouhers, Neuvy-Saint-Sépulchre, Sarzay und Tranzault. Sein Zuschnitt entsprach einer Fläche von 269,74 km2. Er besaß vor 2015 einen anderen INSEE-Code als heute, nämlich 3616.
