Jeepomotive

Bearbeiten

[1] There is no "dubious"-Tag in German Wikipedia. Perhaps you want to raise your point on the discussion page? Apart from that, I am afraid that I did not fully understand your point anyway. Regards --Marinebanker (Diskussion) 21:51, 8. Aug. 2015 (CEST)Beantworten

My particular point there is that the originator of the page is himself aware of earlier usage, and originally incorporated it in the page, referring to an article about a "stretched jeep" used for coastal patrol. 1945 is not the first time this pun surfaced, and an earlier usage shows in the first version of the article.
A broader question is the validity of the article name. It appears to have been used just twice for this type of vehicle conversion. I suppose that means it can't be seen etymylogically as a "nonce word," but it's close enough. Wikipedia is not a place for original work, and neologisms are the worst sort of OR.
This is to pass over the simple mistatements of fact throughout, with Americans in Burma in 1944 reported as Britons in India in 1950, for instance. Anmccaff (Diskussion) 23:54, 8. Aug. 2015 (CEST)Beantworten
Thanks for the reply, but as I said, these points are better raised an the article's discussion page. I just happened upon your using a non-existing tag and thought I better give you a heads up. I'm not really involved in this article. Regards --Marinebanker (Diskussion) 21:45, 9. Aug. 2015 (CEST)Beantworten
Alas, the article's originator lacks your skills in English, but appears not to know it, and my German is all but nonexistent. Thank you for the information. Anmccaff (Diskussion) 03:33, 10. Aug. 2015 (CEST)Beantworten

Hello! May I remark that moving the page was not only not a good idea, but definitely edit-warring. I would appreciate if you would not change anything in the article in that respect until we have something like a concensus and this is stated on the discussion page. This might eventually make the process easier. Thank you! --Marinebanker (Diskussion) 19:21, 9. Sep. 2015 (CEST)Beantworten

Well, I have to say this is another profound difference between the en.wiki and the de.wiki; to be considered "edit warring," they'd have to a series of back-and-forth edits without constructive discussion. Thanks again for your help, and thank you for pointing this out. I'd rather assumed that pointing out that the use of a neologism was not allowed meant it should be changed immediately.
