Nymphaea subg. Brachyceras ist eine Untergattung der Gattung Nymphaea.[1][2]

Beschreibung Bearbeiten
Vegetative Merkmale Bearbeiten
Das Rhizom ist eiförmig bis länglich[3] und bildet keine Ausläufer aus.[4]
Generative Merkmale Bearbeiten
Die Blüten sind tagblühend[2] und ragen über die Wasseroberfläche hinaus.[4] Die Staubblätter haben ein apikales, auffälliges, steriles Anhängsel.[5][4] Die Griffel sind dick und fleischig.[5] Die Kelchblätter bleiben an der Frucht erhalten.[3][5]
Taxonomie Bearbeiten
Veröffentlichung Bearbeiten
Sie wurde als Nymphaea subsect. Brachyceras Casp. von Robert Caspary im Jahr 1866 veröffentlicht. Später wurde sie von Henry Shoemaker Conard 1905 in die Untergattung Nymphaea subg. Brachyceras (Casp.) Conard gestellt.[6][7][8]
