Erich von Braunschweig und der niederländische Unabhängigkeitskampf

Bearbeiten

It turns out that Erich von Braunschweig served in the armies of Karl V. (HRR) und Philipp II. (Spanien), and participated in the Schmalkaldischer Krieg and the Habsburg-Valois Krieg. As compensation for his services Philipp II. made him Herr of Woerden and Freiherr of Liesveld.
In Dutch history Erich is notorious for his brutal suppression of the Lutheran Reformation in Woerden, and his role in the early phases of the niederländische Unabhängigkeitskampf. I have added this information to nl:Erik II van Brunswijk-Kalenberg. JdH 16:34, 14. Mai 2007 (CEST)Beantworten
