Ravenryde ist eine 2007 in Regensburg gegründete deutsche Band. "Von Anfangan war das Ziel in dem 'klassischen Hard Rock'-Stil, einen Stil zu spielen, der kaum noch bei neuen Bands zu finden ist." (Ravenryde-Page entnommen) Eines der besten melodischen Heavy-Rock-Alben, die ich 2009 kennengelernt habe, ist "In The Spirit Of Darkness" der deutschen Debütanten RAVENRYDE
Biografie
Bearbeiten"Get ready for a piece of Hard Rock and Roll!" From the beginning the aim was to play in the `classic hard rock` style, a style which is barely found today in other new bands. The raven as an embodiment of secrecy and mythology is the band`s heraldic creature. So it is not surprising that the band`s lyrics and music have a certain `darkness` about them, whilst the themes of each song take you on a journey to the far realms of fantasy, a major intention of guitarist Didi Saller when he founded RAVENRYDE in 2007. And with Saller they have an outstanding figurehead - the man proofed his class not just in some epigone band, but as guitarist of the "Inventors of Heavy Metal" – American Rocklegends "Blue Cheer". With "In The Spirit Of Darkness" they lay a mighty debut on the table - a mélange of heavy riffing like in "Unholy Ground" or "Ryde With The Pack", grand melodies in e.g. "Demon" or "Foolish Dreams" and deep emotion in "If I Were King" or the titletrack "In The Spirit Of Darkness". "Ravenryde takes no prisoners...", "In all there is so much to listen how Ravenryde develops the songs..." or "One of the best Classic Rock albums of the year!" are just a few of statements that can be read. It is this special spirit, what it`s all about at RAVENRYDE. The spirit of the 70s and early 80s, when rockshows still were rockshows and you really could have caught the magic in the concert halls. Didi Saller expresses it this way: "We want to give the rockfans back, what was stolen from them!" In times of rap-crap and banal singsong the band takes a different line. Cause what RAVENRYDE takes to tape and stage is similar to a Rock and Roll thunderstorm – a mighty rhythm section, keyboards like from outer space, Matt Joseph`s voice just as he wanted to call the northern gods in Valhalla and over all the thunderous guitar of Didi Saller. The sound of the quintet comes not from the head, nor the heart, but from the very soul itself. It arises from the musician`s deep need to express roughness as well as emotion, phantasy and magic all wrapped up as one – and with an intensity to freeze the very blood in the veins of their audience!
