[1] The funeral of the late Mr. Frank Hatton, the young scientist, who was accidently killed while exploring the Seguama River, British North Borneo, which was to have taken place in London, has been indefinitaly postponed. The Governor of Sabah reports that the medical Officer at Elopura will not sanction the removal of the body during the present year. In the meantime it rests on one of the palm-clad slopes of Sandakan bay. Instructions for the erection of a memorial stone to be erect on the spot, and a number of wreaths of everlasting flowers, will go out from the family by an early mail.

"A memorial Cross has been erected."[2] - meaning it was before 1891

"Since those closing notes were written and before and this memorial is finished, the subscribing officials of the Company have ordered three other names to be engraved ... Asa Singh who was killed 1885" - meaning it was after 1885[3]
