[[1]]: "Peter Monavius (1551-1588) - physician from Wrocław and his doctor's degree thesis (1578) "De dentium affectibus" - the oldest work about stomatology topics in Europe ... The author presents life of the Renaissance physician from Wrocław and the first European doctor's dissertation in the field of stomatology, entitled: De dentium affectibus. The author found the original dissertation, which was published in 1578, in Basel University Library. Despite having been published in universal language of that time, the dissertation fell into oblivion. It was translated into Polish in 2002. The author of the dissertation was doctor Peter Monau (Monavius), Silesian from Wrocław, physician in ordinary of Rudolf II Habsburg. The dissertation was written under the guidance of Felix Plater and it was dedicated to Johann Crato von Crafftheim, physician and Silesian thinker from the circle of Erasmus from Rotterdam. The doctor's dissertation included 54 theses on anatomy of teeth and disorders and diseases connected with them. The work also treats the function of teeth and various pathologies. It analyses hereditary susceptibilities. In further part it deals with the problem of treatment and mentions prophylactics. Peter Monau was the first physician to have carried out experiments which led to discovery of dental pulp. The research work contributes to the history of medicine, especially stomatology and indicates centuries long Wrocław connections with European science. "
