Als sich das Feuer intensivierte, versuchten die Passagiere, die Fenster der Kabine mit einer Axt einzuschlagen.

Das ist falsch und wäre auch praktisch kaum vorstellbar. Auf Seite 16 des verlinkten Unfallberichts steht überdies glasklar, dass es die Rettungskräfte waren, die dies unternahmen: "Fire-fighting team of the airport enterprise consisted of 9 fireman and managed in the first minutes to extingish the outer fire around the aircraft while, in the meantime, the other participants in the rescue (3 crew members, two flight engineers, "Aviogenex" Station Manager and JAT's mechanics) were trying to open the doors and to break several windows with axes". --DJ 14:03, 23.
