It's really sad that you can't find the original sources of your family. However, if the coat of arms is the same with that of the Grafen von Raabs, as you said, that is still some sort of evidence. Generally I don't wonder that there are no original sources, because it was a long time ago (a thousand years or so?).

As for the Lacković family, according to the available sources, they had many titles (bans of Croatia, palatines of Hungary, dukes (voivods) of Transylvania, princes of Zadar and so on). I'm not so well acquainted with the history of Hungary to say exactly whether there were princes from nobility or not in Hungary, as you said, but I've found that, for instance, the famous Hungarian national hero Francis II Rakoczi (whose mother was Croatian countess Jelena Zrinski /Ilona Zrinyi in Hungarian language/) held the title of „fejedelem“, which was translated as „prince“. Did I understand it wrong?

I've noticed that the title „herceg“ („duke“ in English) was mostly used in Hungary for the peerage. In Croatia, on the contrary, the title „vojvoda“ (which means „duke“) was very rarely used, but the title „knez“ (translated as „prince“) was widely used instead. It didn't necessary mean only royal prince (the son of a king) or Reichsfürst in German speaking lands, but it had more the Latin meaning „princeps“ (which means „first“), e.g. prince of a coastal town or prince of a bigger (continental, inland) territorial unit, who often had a relatively great and independent power and sometimes opposed the king and acted against him.
