Penny Allen, born in Penny Lane, Liverpool on December 9th 1947 is a British journalist and writer.

Personal life and Career Bearbeiten

Penny Allen attended a number of schools including three girls’ grammar schools and then studied fine art at Winchester School of Art and English and American literature at the University of East Anglia. She was married to Alan Tuckett 1969-1980 and had two daughters, Polly and Alice. In her second marriage to Ian McEwan 1982-1995 she had two sons, William and Gregory.

She wrote free-lance journalism for outlets that included The Radio Times[1][2], The Guardian Women's Page[3][4][5][6][7][8], The Times[9], The Nursing Times, GP, Time Out[10], Spare Rib, Honey[11], The Express, The Times Educational Supplement[12], Company[13][14][15], Cosmopolitan[16][17][18]and Caduceus[19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29]. She taught English literature and language to adults and to foreign students. Furthermore she gave counselling sessions and ran workshops in England and France.
