English: “On August 19th 1901, engine No 383 was involved in a triple collision near Loughton Branch Junction, Stratford. An express goods from Spitalfields to Doncaster, hauled by Y14 class 934, was proceeding down the goods line, when the driver (a Doncaster man), mistook the branch signals for his own and collided with another goods coming off Channelsea curve, hauled by No 877 of the same class, running tender first. At the same time, No 383, which had hurried out of Temple Mills yard with a brake van attached, whilst travelling at a fair speed, crashed into the wreckage which was obscured from the drivers view by the 2-span road bridge.
