Bekanntheitsgrad Bearbeiten
Das Volkslied ist vor allem bekannt, weil es in vielen Arrangements wie zum Beispiel dem BBC Radio 4 UK Theme von Fritz Spiegl vorkommt, das bis 2006 jeden Morgen bei BBC Radio gespielt wurde. Ein weiteres bekanntes Arrangement des Songs ist von dem britischen Komponisten Benjamin Britten.
Außerdem wurde es im Kinderprogramm The Friendly Giant als Titelmelodie verwendet.
The King’s Singers singen es auf ihrem Album, Watching the White Wheat. Eine esoterische Version des Liedes, arrangiert und gesungen von Jim Moray wurde für die Best Traditional Song Kategorie bei den BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards im Jahr 2004 nominiert.
Das Lied wurde auch in vielen Fernsehserien und Filmen verwendet. Samantha sang es in Verliebt in eine Hexe und Pernell Roberts (Adam Cartwright) in der Fernsehserie Bonanza ("Die Werbung um Abigail Jones"). Early One Morning war auch das Volkslied, welches das Urböse benutzte um Spike (Buffy – Im Bann der Dämonen) dazu zu bringen Menschen zu töten, trotz seines Chips und seiner Seele. Diese Version des Liedes wird von Nana Mouskouri gesungen.
In Die Ritter der Kokosnuß, wird Early One Morning im Hintergrund des Anfangs der Geschichte von Sir Launcelot gespielt, kurz bevor sein Assistent "tödlich" von einem Pfeil verwundet wird.
